Hygge is the feeling you get when you are in a comfortable atmosphere. You can "hygge" alone or with friends. Most of the times when you "hygger" you are in small groups. Hygge could be sitting in front of the fireplace with a book and some tea.

Hygge is a word you use in all nice situations.

You can for example use it when you describe something you have done together with some good friends

Something is "hyggeligt" when you can just relax. You dont necesarily have to be together with anyone, you could simply just be sitting and watching your favorite show.

It was so hyggeligt to have you over last night!

I went to a family gathering, and it was so hyggeligt!
