Friendor

A word used by event vendors (professionals) to refer to other event vendors that they've developed friendships with.

Contraction of the words "friend" and "vendor".

First known use of the word was in 2007 by Famous William Company.

I worked with that wedding planner 4 weddings in a row, invited her out for mimosas and networking, and now she's my favorite Friendor.

I'm planning a styled shoot and inviting my Friendors to collaborate.

I have a tight circle of Friendors that I refer my brides to.

friendometer

A very rough scale, usually used in jest, to establish how close you are with a given individual. The friendometer is divided into two sections, acquaintances and friends, which have more specific categories within them:

ACQUAINTANCES

Weak Acquaintance - someone you know by name, and will say hello to

Strong Acquaintance - same as above, may have brief conversation. Friends-of-friends and friends-by-association usually fall into this category

FRIENDS
Weak friend - can have brief, meaningful conversation with, but see rarely. Some friends-by-association can be this.

Friend - the average, you can hang out with this person and have normal, graceful conversation.

Good friend - someone who you chill with a lot and have meaningful conversation

Close friend - someone who you always want to hang out with and can tell almost anything to

Best friend - someone who you would sacrifice a lot for, who you admire and love deeply, and to whom you can tell anything about your life; usually you have 5 or 6 best friends in the whole world, including family members

The friendometer is helpful when trying to assess one's closeness to someone, but obviously like all scales cannot completely describe the way the world operates.

That CREEPY person with the terrifying habit of finding out EVERY single bit of personal information through an online profile after adding you as a friend on social networking sites

Ever since that person added my friend online, he knows all about my best friend but doesn't even know her! What a friendophile!

Someone who is your friend though official social status, but isnt actually close to you. They are in your social group.

I can only invite three people to my birthday party, and I'm inviting Sal, Chrissi, and Lara- none of my friendolians though.

Study of friends and the power of friendships. The bond shared between two or more people. The understanding of friendship and how it is used in todays society. The worlds understanding of true friendship.
