Boots on the Ground

A term for remembering the men and women who have died in the Armed Forces. The Army conducts ceremonies to which boots belonging to a fallen soldier are laid on the ground, to memorialize them.

Used to describe someone (typically a male) who has apparently completed a sexual conquest. Derived from the original Star Trek televison series in which, on several occasions, Captain Kirk obviously bedded the hot woman who is never seen again. ...Alien chick in 60s go-go/hippy fashion apparel primping while Kirk pulls his Star-Fleet-issue black leather boots on.

"to die with your boots on" means that someone died in the middle of a fight or generally in the middle of a work-process.
It originates from the late 19th century, it was used to describe that a soldier died during battle.

"Die With Your Boots On" is also an Iron Maiden song about the same topic.
Person 1: Will you ever stop this madness? You need a brake from work!

Person 2: Only one more year...

Person 1: Oh you're totally gonna die with your boots on!
