refurbished lousewort

A plant of the endangered species Pedicularis furbishiae which has been carefully dug up, potted and transported to the sunny shelter of a greenhouse to help it grow bigger and stronger, and then re-planted in its original spot back in the wild.

Now that so many refurbished lousewort plants have been re-introduced into the coastal woodlands of Maine and New Brunswick, there are more of the lovely yellow cat's-paw-like blossoms for folks to enjoy.

refee

AKA as Ref or Refugee: an insulting way Cuban-Americans in Miami refer to people or habits they classify as poor or ghetto. They also use this term to refer to people who recently arrived from Cuba, legally or illegally. Many Cuban-Americans love flashing their class status in the face of their island counterparts. Designating someone or something as "Refee", and therefore, "less than" can be a powerful tool of domination and assimilation. Using the term defines and solidifies a power dynamic that favors those with more money/class. Once a "refee" is assimilated and Americanized, they are no longer a refee. They graduate to the next level which is Cuban-American. Using the term is, therefore, a powerful tool set in place by the elite to reinforce the class differences that led to the revolution in the first place.
