Goober is used as one of your very good friends who is lovable a goofball and possibly a funny little screwup. Being called a goober is an amazing complement.

Goober

A man of basic attractiveness, that has very little or no talent whatsoever. Is usually in the military, and seems to get the most attractive women for no apparent reason at all.
A Goober has a very low view of individuality, and usually doesn't seem very educated at all.

Person 1: "Damn, do you see that chick over there with the goober?"
Person 2: "She's gorgeous, man I feel sorry for her."
