A "prior to da scheduled shindig" where da festival's directors and participants get together to set everything up and discuss/arrange da events, scheduling, and other necessary logistics.

Just as arriving an hour early and taking a stroll around to leisurely check out all of da floats and displays dat are sitting in line to be in a parade can be equally --- or sometimes even more --- enjoyable than watching da parade itself, attending a previval gathering can also be a total blast, just as da actual hoot 'n' holler dat's being prepared for will conceivably be --- in both examples, you not only get to see everything up-close and thus notice and savor more of da subtle details, but you also are able to meet all of da jovial folks who are running da various attractions, and might even get cordially invited to join one or more of them once da show starts if they see dat you have a particular interest in da subject-matter and/or special capabilities dat they can utilize in their presentations. Plus in any case, of course, you may likely be able to help a few of da fairground-folks to set up some of their displays, which can gain you brownie-points wif them for future networking purposes, and possibly also create some new friendship along da way.

A more biblical term for a church service. At churches with “gatherings”, you can get in trouble for using the wrong term.

Uneducated church member: “What service do you go to, 9:30 or 11?“
Educated member: “You mean ‘Gathering’.”
Guest: “What’s a Gathering?”
Educated member: “It just means church service.”

An event where you have to interact with your weird cousins, where you're grandma still doesn't get that your aunt is dating ''friend'' Claire and when they disappear to another room they ain't knitting, and you're Uncle Terry likes to get drunk and tell you how the Royal Family are Reptilians and 9/11 was an inside job.

Michel: Hey Will, wanna come over this weekend?
Will: Sorry, can't, I have to go to a family gathering
Michel: OK, how many tabs are you gonna need?
Will: Twelve

Gluttonous Gatherer

A Gluttonous Gatherer is an intelligent bloxburg player who plays with a dumb bloxburg player just to steal all of the limited and/or non-limited food items in their bloxburg fridge.

Ex:

Matthew: I was playing bloxburg with this clever man Nikolas. When I rejoined the server after I disconnected from it, I went in my fridge to see that there was only a bloxy cola left in there. I think these Gluttonous Gatherers are getting out of hand.

Brandon: Matthew, stop giving random people roomate in your servers, then you might have more food in your bloxburg fridge.

Pretty much Target brand.
Just a buncha food.
such as offbrand veggie straws or hard-boiled eggs or offbrand Lunchables.

I'm running out of names...
I'll just use placeholders.
Person 1: Just a quick Target run. Want anything?
Person 2: Nah, but I do want Good & Gather™ hard-boiled eggs.
Person 1: ok.
Off Person 1 went on a Target run.

An archaic term for coming together to get things done quickly. Hustling. Not to be confused with "gather and hump".

The attendance and interest at both our luncheons and evening meetings is increasing. Believe me there will be some "hump and gather."
