local is a word mainly used on stan twitter to describe someone who says they 'stan' a specific person after a large achievement for that person (e.g when Ariana Grande dropped 'Thank u, next' she gained a lot of so called 'stans', you would call those people locals as they only like her for her huge hit instead of for the rest of her music/personality). It shouldn't be used to describe someone basic or someone who uses specific emojis (;

'wow please say that louder for the locals at the back'
'you're such a local'

ariana local

People who claim to “stan” Ariana but at the same time came in during her most recent era. They tend to pretend to know everything about her and her family and team but really just have to do research on a lot of things. They quickly try to learn all of the songs they weren’t there for but really don’t know them. They liked Jade more on Victorious and never gave Ariana the credit. These “stans” usually stan Taylor Swift, Camila Cabello, Billie Eilish and/or Selena Gomez. They often brag about knowing Ariana but in reality don’t. at the end of the day they aren’t OG fans like they claim to be.

Ex: Oh my god I love moonlight by Ariana! It’s such a hype song. or : I ship Rikiana so much, they should get back together. or: I am not an Ariana local! I’ve been here since Thank u Next!
