The non-sarcastic equivalent of a bright idea. Basically, an idea that is obviously stupid and not very bright/smart.

Joe had the dim idea to try to drive 500 miles in a car with a bad transmission. As a result, the car broke down and his ass got stuck in the middle of nowhere.

The outer limit of postmodernism. Idealism viewed ironically. Does not cover ironic nihilism which is a form of ironic idealism but falls OUTSIDE of the limits of postmodernism. Consistent with postmodernism's idyllic denialism or its perception of idealism as unreachable or unattainable except through irony.

Hollywood films 1990-2010 contain themes of ironic idealism or idealism viewed ironically.
