Sad Proofing

Sad proofing is a process that occurs after a friend breaks up with their boyfriend/ girlfriend. It consists of removing all artifacts of the relationship and placing in them in a box that is hidden from said friend. Sad proofing is done in order to keep the recently heart broken person from sitting around being sad.

Jim: "Yeah, I had to sad proof John's room last night after I found him weeping in bed with a bunch of pictures of his girlfriend all over his room."

Steve "I did the same thing for my friend the other day. Ever break up needs a good ol' sad proofing session"

Proof of life

Evidence indicating that a victim of a kidnapping is alive. Typically a ransom demand will not be paid until there is confirmation that the hostage is still alive; usually in the form of a photograph with the victim holding up a current copy of a newspaper.

I will not pay the ransom until I have proof of life.

Taylor, I will not pay your rent until I have proof of life; call your mother.

Phrase used to describe a factual situation where one is 100% sure they are correct. The proof part is just the evidence that eventually leads to trooF.

Proof is in the pudding

Pudding has to “set up” before it’s pudding; before that it’s just a mixture of the ingredients which will eventually becomes pudding.

Similarly, one must allow a situation to develop before the reality and results of it can truly be seen. It’s not about “going through” something, because you can observe pudding as an outsider.

During my divorce several people sided with my ex, believing the lies he told them about me and us. But I chose to let time and silence be my defense, and eventually the proof is in the pudding.

DeShaun Holton - better known as Proof - started out in Detroit's Hip Hop Shop, organizing freestyle tournaments. He later became a member of D12. He was a close friend of Eminem's, and also his hypeman. He is survived by his wife Sharonda, sons DeShaun Rice and Elija Abel, and daughter Katieva Walker.
