contact high

A contact high occurs when one becomes high when he or she is near someone who is currently under the influence of some sort of illegal drug, even if the person receiving the contact high has not recently taken any drugs.
Amy was high when I saw her. After talking to her for only a few seconds, I got a major contact high.

IT Contractor

An IT Contractor is a person that gets paid huge amounts of money for doing nothing at all. The IT Contractor first came into its own in 1999 when the world was conned into thinking all computers would crash at midnight , news years day 2000. This was the biggest scam of all time and has for ever since been a legend in IT Contracting circles.

Contractors can be seen most, if not all evenings, occupying large tables in Bars / Pubs and talking about how good Linux is and how end users are thick cunts.

Contact high

The sensation of intoxication one gets from being proximate to someone who is already intoxicated, most often someone who is high on hallucinogenic drugs. This is not necessarily from the second-hand smoke of marijuana, as is often suggested, but moreso it is the feeling of being disconcerted by an intoxicated person's actions, gestures, word usage, perspiration and pupil dilation.
"I saw Jamie at the bar last night, he'd just dropped like 4 hits of acid, he was jumbling his words and his pupils were huge, I got contact high just talking to him."

futures contract

(FINANCE) a financial derivative that consists of a contract to buy a fixed amount of a thing at a fixed price at a fixed time in the future,. For example, a commodity future may specify 1000 British barrels (bbl) of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil for $85.75/bbl, for delivery at Cushing, OK, on 31 November 2010.

Futures are "written" by the person with the commodity to sell, and sold to either a financial speculator or else to someone who wants the product--in this case, an oil refinery. Sellers/owners do this because they want to be assured of a fixed price for the thing they're selling. The official reason for buying a future is to get a fixed price for something. This allows businesses to plan ahead.

However, since futures contracts are traded on secondary markets, it's possible to make (or lose) a lot of money trading them.
SOMEBODY: A futures contract can be extremely valuable for doing business. One of the best examples was Southwest Airlines, which weathered the oil crisis of 2007-2008 with futures for aviation fuel. When the market price of fuel doubled, Southwest was able pay a low, low contract price.

SOMEBODY ELSE: Doesn't it ever backfire?

SOMEBODY: Yes, the market price could fall through the floor and you'd be stuck paying THAT instead of the new, lower price. But at least you know what your cash flow will be.

eye contact

1. the ultimate source of awkwardness
2. an unspoken agreement
ex 1:
Steve: Oh dude I was just staring at that girl while zoning out.
Joe: Good thing you broke eye contact with her or she'd think you were a creep!

ex 2:
When the teacher announced that we were going to work in partners, me and Julie instantly made eye contact and nodded.

Contralto

The lowest womyn's singing voice; at the bottom of their range, they sound almost like men, often leading to people mistaking them for men on the radio, telephone, or wherever.

The alto range, which is below soprano, is really an easy combination of the mezzo-soprano range and the contralto range; the mezzo-soprano is the medium female voice and therefore the higher of the two.
The contralto voice is a pretty rare voice. And there is little work that was written specifically for the contralto. Countertenors, mezzo-sopranos, and often tenors, baritones, and basses take the roles that were written for them.

Marian Anderson and Kathleen Ferrier were legendary operatic contraltos in their day.

Toni Braxton is a famous popular music contralto. As are Brandy, Alicia Keyes, Cher, and Blu Cantrell, among others.
