Get the Emo mug.Okay, I've read through these stupid definitions on here for emo, and they're all WRONG.
I am an emo, so I figured this would be the best way for you numbskulls to get it through your minds. "Emo" IS short for "emotional". To be emo, you have to listen to the music, i.e. My Chemical Romance, Aiden, Underoath, etc, etc wear the clothes, i.e. skinny jeans, studs, etc, etc and have the personality. Now, personality is the biggie here. An emo personality is not always depressing, oh, and hint hint, EMO'S. DO. NOT. HAVE. TO. CUT. Emo's do, however, need to be a bit shy, poetic, and generally pretty intelligent. Emo's are also usually very, very nice people. Most of them, now I say most, not all, understand hurt. Generally emo's are shunned from society, but they're always willing to talk to someone. Emo's are sensitive, and only want their thoughts to be heard. Emo's do not always cut, are not always depressed, don't wear just black, and aren't freaks. They're people.

Get the Emo mug.Emo, short for Emotional. Pretty much your definition right there. A whole bunch of sorrow filled people, who listen to downtrodden music which lyrics usually consist of groans and moans of past relationships that went wrong and they take there pain to the extreme. Typically "cutters" or, people who cut themselves when they are upset to release their emotional pain (which is very unhealthy by the way.) Majority of Emo's are homo/bi-sexual. Usually "Punks" do not get along with them. ("Indie sux, hard-line sux, EMO SUX, you suck!"-Antiflag)

And If there is some, or something terrible has happened, they end up thinking it's a huge problem. this usually ends up with them cutting themselves on the arm, leg, penis, clit whatever. Then if this doesn't help solve anything they will perceive they don't matter and will then change their appearance. Usually all black or wierd clothing. (Large baggy pants that can be mistaken for skirts. If this doesn't help they then they think since no one has noticed the change that they mean nothing to the world. They then go one to think they have no friends and go and kill themselves. (either slashing of wrists, runs, drugs, hangings, etc
