Mr. Show with Bob and David

Mid- to Late-90s sketch comedy, aired late nights on HBO. Created by Bob Odenkirk and David Cross, who began collaborating while working on <i>The Ben Stiller Show</i>. Part pre-taped show, part live performance, <i>Mr. Show</i> was praised for its willingness to break with conventions and follow its own twisted muse, launching the careers of Odenkirk, Cross, Jack Black, Tom "Spongebob Squarepants" Kinney, and other alternative comedians.

Mr. Show freakin' rocked. Did you see the one with "We're Earthlings, Let's Blow Up Earth Things"? Genius.

Hip with the Kiddos

A term used by members of the younger generation to describe someone as in-touch or trendy.

Also can be used by an older person to describe themselves, though usually incorrectly.

My teacher tries to be hip with the kiddos, but nobody ever gets his 80s romcom references.

One Up with a Topper

When a one up just isn't good enough and some "icing on the cake" is deemed necessary. Occasionally, the topper is topped without rebuttal. Both the "One Up" and the "Topper" are unusually suspicious.

Me: I had great seats for U2.

Friend (One Up): Yeah, well I had front row.

Friend (Topper): And, I got backstage.

Friend (Extra Topper): Oh yeah, the tickets were free!

Me (to myself): Unbelievable, another One Up with a Topper!
