Everyone knows the scene kids when they see them, thus they are seen, because they look blantaly emo and like they just walked out of a Hawthorne Heights or Taking Back Sunday concert.

Get the scene kids mug.Scene kids are awesome. We wear funky neon colors, and we layer tanks over long sleeved tees a lot. Graphic tees are a big part of our style, and our tees usually have something like Gir, Skelanimals, or Hello Kitty on them. Anything cute and childish is perfect. Tight band tees are a plus as well, especially if they're vintage. We also wear dark washed skinny jeans. The tighter the better. Ballet flats are cute, but I prefer Converse in assorted colors. Accessories include bright, noticeable earrings, jelly bracelets, fake beads and pearls, and any vintage/out there jewelry you can find. Hair is probably our most important feature. It MUST be dead straight. No curls, waves, or any hint of volume allowed. We tease it a lot, and then put things such as oversized neon bows and kiddie clips in it. Some people dye their hair neon colors or bleach it, but mine is naturally dark, and I never bothered to dye it. Coontails are also big in the scene community. You can get extensions, or you can bleach/dye your hair so you have them directly in your hair. Makeup is another thing us scene kids love. I usually use mascara, liquid eyeliner, black eyeshadow, and stick eyeliner, so my eyes are very smoky and black. Neon colors are accepted as well. Almost every scene kid has a Myspace. You must accept every single friend request you get. You must also go to tons of shows, and post pictures on your Myspace. Us scene kids are very, very conceited/vain. We know we look better than you. We know we are better than you, and we never fail to show it. We almost always think that people who aren't "scene" are unattractive and therefore we generally don't hang out with them. We're very goofy and fun, and contrary to popular belief, we don't cut, we're not depressed, and we're generally not rude or mean to people who don't bother us. Most of us dream of becoming a model, photographer, hair stylist, or some kind of artist. Modeling, photographing, and styling other people's hair are three of my main hobbies, and I love it. We'll get deeply offended if you call us emo, so don't. We will deny being scene as well, even though we totally are. We love anything bright, happy, cute, and fun. If you're SxE it means you don't drink, do drugs, etc. If you're HxC it means you do. (I'm SxE.) We use lots of scene lingo, such as "the sexx", "radd", and "stellar". We also have "scene names", which are alliterative names, such as Brooke Burnout or Tina Terror or Hannah Homicide. And finally, remember: You can never go wrong as long as you're original!
Scene Kid: OMG Look at that totally cute Hello Kitty necklace! It's thasexx!!
Other Scene Kid: Oh em gee yeah!! It's totally radd!! Let's totally get it!!
Both: *laughing hysterically as they run into the store*

Get the Scene Kid mug.THE LIFE AND DEATH OF A SCENE BOY:
A guy gets his first piercing and begins growing out his hair and listening to hip scene music, and girls begin to like him more.
Therefore, he listens to more music, grows out his hair more, and gets more piercings.
At this point he's popular and SUPERHAWT and does cool stuff like smoke and go to shows and raves.
Then, after large amounts of hip music and piercings and whatnot, he starts becoming a little more gay. He may also start wearing makeup for extra scene-ness. Girls and most guys become weirded out.
To counteract the gayness, he shaves his head, listens to more xHARDCOREx music and goes straight edge. Then he realizes that he's a douche and nobody likes him, so he grows out his hair again, and the cycle restarts.

timothy: wow, I'm so cool with my tight pants and long hair and makeup!
shawn: dude, not really. You're sooo scene, you're kinda gay now.
timothy: oh shit, I need to shave my head and listen to more manly music and stuff!
shawn: whatever dude, you'll always be a scene boy.

Get the scene boy mug.Sure, some scene girls backcomb their hair and wear bows and extensions and skinnies and dye their hair random colours, but its become the fashion for nowadays, just because you look like that doesn't mean you're scene, it means you're FASHIONABLE. And not all scene kids are obsessed with myspace and social networking sites, most of them DO have a life.
And scene guys mostly don't have hair covering their face or loads of piercings or wear girl's jeans. I actually struggle to find a scene guy wearing girls jeans.
Not all go to 593729402729 gigs a week either, or aspire to become photographers, journalists, hairdressers etc; most of my friends are scene and hardly any of them fit this definition. And no that doesn't make them posers cuz believe me I know what the hell a poser is and they're NOT.
So now I've cleared that all up it should be easier to understand what scene is for you all now :)

Get the Scene / Scene kid mug.A person, usually between the ages of 14-18 who immerses themselves in the culture attached to one particular style of music.
Most notably the "emo" scene as it is quite well documented
Scene Kids tend to spot someone mainly off websites such as myspace, xanga, vampire freaks, live journal & immitate their style & personality so as to reflect them in a complete sense. This usually involves cutting their hair in a way that reflects the person they are immitating, dressing in that style, listening to that music & wearing all acessories that go with the style.
They will also tend to brag about "how insertscenehere they are" because they are still very insecure about fitting in.
This is all simply a psychological way oftrying to be accepted into certain musical cultures.
As people between the ages of 14-18 base their lives around music & the culture that follows, it seems essencial to fit into 1 or more catagories. If you go outside the most popular style -or dont fit into one at all, you are shunned, as people are very afraid of this they try to copy from the "cool" people in a certain style for protection.
