A red-shift in the light from a star shows that the distance between us and the star is increasing. The bigger the red-shift the faster the star is moving away.

Vacation Shift

When you have your last work shift before vacation. Usually this day is either extremely slow, extremely busy, or customers are extra rude. But when you finally clock out for the day it feels SO much better than clocking out of a normal shift, because you now have no more work shifts between then and your vacation, so you can fully relax now.

I had my vacation shift yesterday and it was a long and slow day, but now I get to look forward to being on a plane on vacay and I don't have to get through any more work shifts between now and then!!!!!!
