Triads

A term used to describe many Chinese criminal organizations. They are the most well-known organized crime group in China, Hong Kong, and Macao. They originated in the anti-Manchu resistance in China. The term "triad" comes from the three dots which form part of the Chinese character for the Ming Emperor Hung Wu. The Triads began as "Men of Hung." They were both part of the political resistance of the Han Chinese to the Manchu dynasty, as well as outlaws who "Ta fu — chih p'in" (Hit the Rich and help the poor).
Both the Chinese Triads and the Italian Mafia and Camorra have existed at least since the early 1800s. The Triads spread all over the world and control much of the illegal and informal economy in overseas Chinese communities.

traditional catholic

Roman Catholics who enjoy or adhere to a more traditional practice of Catholicism. This tends to be more strict and within a Catholic context more legalistic. The traditional latin mass is admired for its solemnity and reverence. Morally they take a more traditional and harsher stance on contraception, extra-martial relationships, cohabitation, legbt+ matters, divorce, and so on... not necessarily 'radtrad' or 'sedevacantist' or 'sspx' or 'schismatic'.
"As a traditional Catholic I would rather the mass be in Latin to preserve the reference to the mass."
"You traditional Catholics lose sight of the social and communal nature that the mass was in the early church. Also how the church needs to exist in the modern world."
"That is a traditional Catholic family. See all the girls are wearing veils at mass."

Horse Trade

A disingenuous deal where one party knowingly conceals the quality of a good/service in a way that the other party perceives the deal as being better than it actually is.
Joel horse traded me on that bed frame. He said it was for a queen-size mattress, I took his word for it and didn't notice it was full-sized until I got it home. Now I have a bed frame I can't use!
