A mate who’s also in the trade. Doesn’t necessarily have to be your ‘mate’, but you can be anything from a sparky, to a chippy or even a decorator if life has dealt you an unfortunate card.

Kev the plasterer is a trade mate. He’s also in the building game. Office folk are not trade mates.
