Saxony

Saxony is a federal state in the east of Germany.
It's south from Brandenburg and Saxony-Anhalt, east from Thuringia and north-east from Bavaria. Poland and the Czech Republic attack it in the west.
The German name for Saxony is ”Sachsen”.

People in Saxony talk in different dialects/accents, including various versions of Saxon (German: Sächsisch), Ore Mountains dialect (German: Erzgebirgisch), Vogtland dialect (Vogtländisch), as well as Standard German.
There also live people of a culture called Sorbs (German: Sorben) which has West Slavic origins.

A few of famous people that were born and/or live(d) in Saxony are August der Starke (former elector), Gotthold Ephraim Lessing (poet), Richard Wagner (composer), Karl May (author), Michael Ballack (football player), and Tom Pauls (comedian and cabaret artist).

Saxon food includes quarkkeulchen, green dumplings (Grüne Klöße), sauerbraten in Saxon style, barley soup with smoked pork (Graupensuppe mit Kassler), elderberry soup, cabbage rolls (Kohlrouladen), potato pancakes (Kartoffelpuffer), quark cake, and many more.
Most Saxon people LOVE to drink coffee.

They generally are very nice, smart and funny.

The TU Leipzig, located in the north-west of Saxony, is one of Germany's best universities.

Saxony's capital city is Dresden.

The Germanic-speaking descendants of three tribes, the Angles, Saxons, and Jutes, who came from Denmark, northwestern Germany, and Holland, who settled in what are now England and southern Scotland in the fifth century, displacing the native Celts. Though they had close cultural ties with Scandinavia, they were on the recieving end of the Viking Raids from 793 to 1066, when the Anglo-Saxon government (now mostly under the control of Vikings) was annihilated by the Normans, a powerful group of French-speaking Vikings.
