Not ALL New York City residents are douchebags.
The only douchebags there, are the ones in the business district 'cause they have to pay their rent. It's a job. Give them a break.
We do all drink coffee, We don't always enjoy the tourists.
And yeah, we do have pride in our city, well, don't you? We love where we live, and isn't that enough?
You like to talk about where YOU live right? Well we just happen to bring it up in almost every conversation about it.
If you know a TRUE new yorker, you'll know we're blunt, sometimes mean, but often extremely sweet, welcoming, and friendly. We keep to ourselves, and like to get things done, which means no 2-hour conversations at the grocery store while getting milk.
And for everyone who thinks Broadway, and theatre is gay, and the people are fake? They are the realest and most amazing people you will meet.
9/11 was a terrible day for America. People who are truly affected from the attack, and bring it up at the right time? GIVE THEM A BREAK. The people who DON'T live here usually bitch a moan about it like it's their job, so don't assume them to ACTUALLY LIVE HERE- People DON'T like to talk about it...
This place is amazing for those who love it. If you don't like it, you don't like it. Just don't knock it till you've actually been here, and stop calling us assholes, cause you guys are seriously disturbed.

Get the New York city mug.Major United States city with asshole people. The city smells very bad. The city dumb is on large boats on the river. You also cannot drive in that city because of too many asshole taxi drivers and regular asshole people. Too expensive to live their. Try to stay away from NY.

Some are just curse-spitting lowlifes, some are coldhearted bastards who think they belong to "high society" and are "on top of the world" (they're really only on top of their mamma). Many "New Yorkers" had 100s or dozens of sexual partners and long forgotten that love, intimacy, care, etc. STDs are rampant. New Yorkers think it's normal to go to a bar and find a one-night stand or to dump their partner on some petty issue and easily find a replacement (the dumped New Yorkers don't care too much though, because they are as committment-phobic as their lovers) Most New Yorkers fear or dislike nature and anything that is natural, for that matter, and try to hide behind fake values and things like "style and fashion" to conceal their spiritual and emotional emptiness. They prefer to see nature tamed and confined to something like Park Avenue poodle (who spends his days pampered at DOG DAYCARE). Many New Yorkers are extreme weirdos that outdo most L.A. nutcases by far and far. Some of the worst scum of world are New Yorkers: from lawyers to street thugs--though not all New Yorkers are scum, of course. And yes, I did live in NYC for quite a while, as well as in all large US cities.

The 5 bouroughs, nassau, suffolk and weschester are downstate.
the only debate is westchester, not because of the social/economical connections with the city, its just that its north of the bronx. But most people say that it is downstate.
if you think long island is upstate then you are obviously from one of the citys bad schools or from any upstate school (north of weschester). Learn your geography! This isnt that hard! Not one person I have ever met has even knew that this was a "debate"(which its not).
