Sympathy baiter 

Like anglers hunting for fish, these sad sacks cast out their hooks -- baited with vague tales of woe -- in the hopes of landing concerned responses. Genuine bad news is one thing, but these manipulative posts are just pleas for attention.

The Sympathy Baiter. "Barbara is feeling sad today." "Man, am I glad that's over." "Jim could really use some good news about now."

Acting like you are about to say a slur then actually saying something else.

Unfunny person - "I hate ni- Nice cars." Cool person, "that is Slur baiting, not cool dude!"

Race-baiting 

Attempting to cloud logic and facts by appealing to emotion through false accusations of racial discrimination. A favorite spin tactic of politicians used to manipulate people of low intelligence.

Obama's rhetoric concerning the Zimmerman case was blatant race-baiting and an obvious attempt to divert public attention from the scandals of his administration.

baithead 

Someone who is being 'bait'. I.e. doing something they shouldn't in a stupid obvious way.

baiter 

A fisherman who uses non-artificial bait, such as live bait or cut/whole dead bait.

Some fishermen look down on baiters, but I regularly use cut dead croaker to catch silver trout in the channels. I guess this makes me a baiter, but at least I have a freezer full of fish to eat.

When a guy in a relationship leads a single girl on to feel better about himself or to have a safety net if his relationship goes south. The female version of this is Joe baiting.
