A long-established expression among sailors uses the term, "Jonah", to mean a sailor or a passenger whose presence on board brings bad luck and endangers the ship. The meaning is based on the Biblical prophet Jonah. Later, this meaning was extended to mean, "a person who carries a jinx, one who will bring bad luck to any enterprise."

A Jonah is a nutcase of a person with a dirty mind and a crazy personality. He’ll say the most random shit and will always make you smile.
