I'm kind of fed up with stereotypical comments on Memphis. I've lived here my whole life (and I don't have a Southern accent!). Memphis is a great city, aside from humid summers. Our Zoo is rated like, highest in the nation, our downtown full of history, Lorraine Motel, Stax, Graceland, Riverboats, etc., and I have never once witnessed or been involved with crime. Why dwell on the 60% African American population? I find it funny that you call Memphis racist when all you look at is our black population. Guess what? That means 40% of other races. Why can't you just say that? I've never run into extreme racism, and I have plenty of friends of other races. For crying out loud, I have a Chinese exchange student living with me. How's that for closed-minded?

Set for ten years. Serve. Muphin Chuckrs became an official band in 1999, and have worked consciously on maturing their sound since 2006. Now in their tenth year since inception, Muphin Chuckrs have written over 70 original songs and just released their 8th album, 'House Party Heroes,' in the summer of 2008. Through hundreds of shows, including charities, high schools, family events, and (much more commonly) dirty bars, the band continues to fine-tune their signature sound; they are known for reinventing themselves with every new CD release. Their passion, however, is their live show. Front-man Dustin White not only has a unique voice and a talent for singing, but he also knows how to entertain an audience. Together with guitarist Dan Edwards, bassist Nate Reid, and Zach Phillips on drums, the Muphin Chuckrs crowd not only gets a great musical show, they walk away laughing. This combination has made them a hit throughout Southwest and Central Florida, allowing them to make a name for themselves in their hometown and begin touring throughout the state on a regular basis. Their sights are definitely set on the road as they continue work on their 9th album, 'From Life to Paper,' currently set to release winter of 2009.

A City in western tennessee that is so overrun with poor blacks that most new visitors may think that they are not actually in the United states any longer but have somehow taken a wrong turn and wound up in Africa. Most notable for the Hernando-Desoto Bridge which is the worlds longest suspension bridge in that it stretches from Memphis all the way to Africa.

Get the Mumple mug.A city on the turn around from a few decades of bad karma and even worse government. Granted there are still some less than intelligent people running things, but the city is definitely changing for the better. The crime rate is down, though there are still some neighborhoods to avoid...as in every city. There are still some problems but come by in May for some storms, great music, great food, and a great time.

Get the Memphis mug.The best place in the South (after Florida). A city that hasn't bulldozed or tried to hide its history, and has a lot of diffrent cultural events. Many great neighborhoods such as Downtown, Uptown, Southend, Overton Square, and Cooper Young. Sadly, the city has a bad reputation with some Memphians and Tennesseans because its 60% African American and some people are afraid. So instead of checking out this great city for themselves, they spend their time on the internet bashing the city. NORMAL crime rate for a metro of 1.2 million(except in car thefts which are high), Memphis City Schools are good if you actually care about your education, and leads the state in private and public investment. Americas largest urban park Shelby Farms, and a world class minor leauge baseball stadium, world class NBA arena, world class zoo, and world class museums. Luckly the number of Memphis naysayers are dropping.
Before posting negative Memphis crap, get off your computer for once, and see what city is really like!!!
