Evidence about the quality, validity, or interpretation of other evidence. It's the evidence you use to weigh evidence. This includes a study's methodology, the chain of custody for a forensic sample, the calibration records of a sensor, or the historical accuracy of a witness. In a courtroom, the DNA match is evidence; the lab's accreditation and error rate is the meta-evidence. It's the critical layer that separates raw data from a credible claim, and it's where most conspiracy theories and legitimate skepticism violently collide.

Example: "The photo was evidence of the event. The meta-evidence—the JPEG's EXIF data showing it was created two days prior, and the shadow angles being physically impossible—was what proved it was a fake. The evidence lied; the meta-evidence told the truth about the lie."

The hypocritical application of radically different levels of scrutiny and standards for accepting evidence based on whether the evidence supports or challenges one's preferred conclusion. Evidence for the favored view is accepted with minimal question, while evidence against it is subjected to impossible, moving-target demands for perfection.

Example: An activist accepts a single, methodologically shaky study showing benefits of their preferred policy as "proof," but demands five gold-standard, multi-decade, replicative studies before accepting any evidence of potential harms—a classic Evidence Double Standards maneuver.

Custom-Made Evidence Theory

The pinnacle of evidentiary corruption, where evidence is tailor-made to fit the precise rhetorical, legal, or political needs of a specific moment or opponent. It combines fabrication, manipulation, and molding into a bespoke service. The evidence is crafted to exploit a known weakness in an opponent's argument, to appeal to a specific audience's biases, or to meet the exact technical requirements of a flawed but powerful process (like a rigged legal system).

Custom-Made Evidence Theory Example: In a frivolous but dangerous lawsuit, a corporation doesn't just find a hired-gun expert. It commissions a custom-made scientific study that uses bizarre, hyper-specific parameters that only its own product can meet, "proving" safety. The evidence is useless to real science, but it's perfectly engineered to create just enough procedural doubt to win in court or in the press, fitting the situation like a lockpick fits a specific tumbler.

Molded Evidence Theory

The practice of designing an entire research study, audit, or investigation from the ground up with a specific, pre-ordained conclusion in mind.
