Someone who takes another person's idea and credit's only themself. For Example: A person who shapes surfboards but does not surf. Same goes with skateboards.

1- (a) a person who has not been listening to a certain band/artist since this band/artist has formed. (b) A person who doesnt know every single detail about each band member. (c) a person only listens to the main stream music of a particular genre. (d) some one who claims to like a cetain genre then listens to other genres (le gasp! how could they!)
2- a band/artist that has become mainstream

1- first person: i like green day! especially american idiot! that album is one of my favourites
second person: well I'VE been listening to them sence they formed!

Poleax

On the American frontier, a woodworker began at the source of his material - the tree. He made his own lumber from scratch with two axes: a poleax to fell the tree and make rough kerfs in the log, and a broadax to slice away wood between kerfs and square the sides. The poleax has a straight handle and a head weighing about 4 1/2 pounds, while the broadax has a curved handle (to keep knuckles from being skinned on wood) and a heavier head.

The housewright used a poleax to fell the trees for his cabin.

Most people you will meet in life; People who do things because it will improve their social standing, not because they actually enjoy/care about what they are doing are considered posers. Should be seen as a subculture, albeit a parasitic one that hijacks any other given subculture, waters it down, makes it "trendy" and causes people who still try to stick with the given subculture to look like a walking cliche. A good analogy is when a corporation donates to a large charity, then puts up commercials about it, proving (9/10 times) that they donated to appeal to the masses, not because they want to make the world a better place. Also, for racial minorities, an equivalent of poser would be a "ghetto rat," a "gangster," or any other stereotype.
tl;dr: Poser is a term used to describe those who cause culture and subculture to become shit.

The way 'hipster' has become because of posers, compared to the way it was before most people even knew about it. The way 'emo' (or Post Punk) has become, largely because of posers that were previously identified as 'scenesters.' The way 'Goth' and 'Punk' have become, due to kids seeing Marilyn Manson and thinking that dressing a certain way would help them rebel against society.
