Spangled

A slang word used to describe someone who's completely drunk. Can also be used as 'Spangladesh', if someone is describing that they were drunk.

Person: "what did you do over the weekend?"

"Ah mate, I went to Spangladesh! I was completely spangled."

Star Spangled Boner

Used to refer to overzealous and poorly thought-out patriotism. If somebody is exhibiting these traits, it is said that they have a Star Spangled Boner.

I wish all these morons who are celebrating Osama Bin Ladin's death would put away their star spangled boners. It doesn't mean terrorism is over, and besides, everyone with half a brain knows 9/11 was an inside job anyhow.

Quite simply, it's the national anthem of the United States of America. It was written by Francis Scott Key during the bombardment of Fort McHenry in the War of 1812. The melody was taken from a British pub song and new lyrics were added. The song is EXTREMELY difficult to sing, and even though many famous people have sung it at sporting events, VERY few have ever got it right.

I was watching the 2004 Summer Olympics on TV. They were being broadcast (taped) from Greece. The U.S. womens soccer team had won the Gold medal in the game finals. When they received their medals in a ceremony most of them joined in a vocal rendition of the star spangled banner . It was the most wretched, lousy and downright godawful version of that anthem I ever heard in my life, and I've heard plenty of horrible renditions. This was the famous 15 minutes for the ladies, since the networks, the press (and the general public pretty much too) don't really give a rat's ass about womens sports, let alone soccer as much as they do about football, baseball and basketball - especially as played by men. A moment of national pride for the U.S.A., forgotten in a flash. And so it goes.

"swingles"

Term for single people that really just want sex. Single people who seek others to have recreational sex without the necessity of commitment. Singles that desire to weed out other singles that are looking for LTR (long term relationship) and focus in on singles looking only for a good time sexually.

"I searched the personal ads for "swingles", and found "no strings" sex very quickly".
"I hear that place is turning into a "swingles" bar, where everybody inside is looking to just "hook up"".
"I'm tired of trying to get a good man for an LTR...I think I will just try the "swingles" scene for awhile, and have some fun".
