n. Someone or something (commonly a band) held in the highest regard by hipster culture.

Origin: An internet meme from last.fm in late 2008, specifically the shoutbox for Aphex Twin and later Animal Collective.

Often mistakenly thought to be a misspelling of "hipster garbage," hipster garabe is not strictly a derogatory term.

A proponent of hipsterism. The hipsterist is on a constant quest to find the most peculiar, cool, ugly, or avante-garde items on the face of the earth. To do so, they are willing to spend any amount of money, for they define themselves by what they consume, not by who they are.

Darren the hipsterist owns every LP ever released by Interpol. And they're all signed copies. Imports. Even the remixes.

A person who feels superiority because of their knowledge of obscure beers. In the same way a normal hipster likes to take pride in their music library, a beer hipster will brag about what beers they know.

that huge hill in kelvingrove park in glasgow. if you go there in summer, there are so many people all over the hill that you can't even see the grass. most of them are hipsters, but there are also some posh people trying to become hipsters. they be blasting music no one really wants to hear all day as well.

Artists include Will Oldham, White Magic, Modest Mouse (before they sold out) and Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Labels include Drag City and Kranky.
