Staunch segregationist Senator Strom Thurmond has earned the dubious post mortem label of 'Bigocrite' upon confirmation of the existence of his biracial daughter, Essie Mae Washington-Williams. Senator Thurmond had long opposed civil rights legislation in the Senate that outlawed 'separate but equal' treatment of African Americans, but nonetheless had no problem having a (secret) affair with a young African American woman he employed.
