Noun. A person's culmulative respect in the hood based upon several factors:

1.). Appearance and dress
2.). Personal experiences around Gs
3.). Ability to freak a Black or identify different types of alcohol
4.). Hard slang and hood talk
5.). Willingness not to snitch.

All these things together boost up your street cred.

Brah, that dude got on them new Jordans and I saw him smoking a blunt and drinking a 40 earlier . He got mad street cred!

Respect between writers, or of readers for a writer, based on the quality and substance of their writing. Amount of writing published or number of copies sold can be, but isn't necessarily, a factor, as quantity is not always indicative of value.

I don't care how prolific he is or how many copies he's sold, James Patterson has no sheet cred. He's good at driving plot, but that's about it.

Street Cred

Obtaining or possessing a notable level of skill in the underground urban ring. Particularly affiliated with drug trafficking, illegal street racing or drifting, or any other self-acquired and/or self-taught skill earning respect and credibility from those outside the law.

Chop's street cred is undeniable. His car is boosted with nitrous, gotta be at least 800 hp to the wheel, he's never lost a race.

You need to talk to Shawn, he's been pushing since high school; his street cred is unmatched.

You can't define Street Cred. You know it when you see it. Jay-Z has it. Basketball player Stephon Marbury personifies street cred. Brooklyn bred, handle born in the streets, just the right inflection in his speech, the can't-F-with-me strut. The little things. But he's also got an aspect of street cred that no worthy hipster can be without: mystery.

1. The amount of respect you have gained from other members of your blogging community (generally a subcommunity of the overall blogger community, such as "video game bloggers")

2. A term used sarcastically because people who blog do so on the internet, which is widely regarded as the least credible source for information apart from televised news.

That dude totally lost some blogger street cred when he decided to post his views on violence in gaming, which every other video game blogger disagreed with.
