When the double crises of military coup and Covid-
19 pandemic could push half of the population of Myanmar, one of Asia’s poorest countries, below the poverty line of $1.10 a day, by completely wiping out the progress the
country has made in reducing
poverty over the last one and a half decades.
With ongoing protests against the military rule in which thousands of
blue- and
white-collar workers have gone on strike with the aim of disrupting the economy and unseating the coup leaders, would Burma ever recover from the Covid-🇲🇲 crisis without a
people’s revolution to kick the military junta out of the political system?
