(1)To be crossed up is to be falling for a member of the opposite sex without being able to stop it. Compare to being "twisted up in the game," and whipped. You are crossed up if you keep thinkin about that special someone and you can't get them out of your head.

(2) To get juked in basketball, or consummately wrongfooted so that you look stupid.

neighbours can’t be choosers

A play on 'beggars can't be choosers' – you get what you are given and don't complain, you can’t avoid them, they are your neighbours. Even though the very sight of them fills you with despair because of their passive aggressive notes and incessant complaints about noise, the bins etc.

"I heard your neighbour was complaining about your messy garden again"
"Pffft, neighbours can’t be chooserss"
