There are a few 'emo' types. You have your poser emos who go into it because their mates are into it or because their girl/boy friend broke up with them. You have your music emos which are the types who like emotional hardcore music. Then you have real emos who have real issues like self-harm or clinical depression. Often cut themselves on their legs, arms, wrists and stomachs.

Poser emo: I'm so emo. I cut myself shavign once *whine*
Music emo: Did you go to the Avenged Sevenfold concert last night? Freakin' Intense man.
REAL emo: *sniffle* *puts on smile and pulls sleeves down* Hi. *leaves goes to room and cuts self*

white kids, in the middle to upper class of society, ussualy between the ages of 14 - 17 who wear tight pants for guys this ussualy means girl pants and often pants borrowed or taken from a female related to them such as a sister. Emo kids often live in a suburban enviroment. They have hair that comes down to about the length of their cheek bones and is covering one eye. emo kids almost always are heard arguing with their mom or dad and most of their converstions end with a door slaming. "No one understands me" is their favorate line because they want to feel unique. (what they fail to realize is by being emo they are joining an entire subculture of people.) Emo kids often make up a small melodramatic story for every tiny imperfection they find in their fairly normal lives that is rarely different from the average kids life. emo kids travel in packs and pairs and prefer to hang out with people who have sympathy for their made up problems.(mostly other emo kids) emo kids sometimes take depression medication to treat their alleged depression that does not exist. They spend hours on myspace either making their page look sad, adding hundreds of either the same picture from different angles they took minutes ago or poorly edited pictures where eithr hue has been altered or the paintbucket tool has been used to fill most of the picture with black paint. Emo kids hang ussually go out with girls who ussually dump them within a month at the most. (ussually because the girl is tired of having two pussys) some emo kids take it to the next level and cut their wrists to gain attention because by about the hundreth time if they were trying to kill themselves they would have succeded by now. for all intensive purposes emo kids (ussually boys) are like a gay man who cant come out of the closet. Also emo kids are often heard asking for a hug from random people when they go somewhere because they want attention.

emo is just a shortened word for emotion
if you are an emotional person you could call yourself an emo.
but those emo-extremists who go around slitting their wrists and talking like the world hates them.
i wouldn't call them emos. id call them attention seekers.
they need to get a life.

emo is not about hating life its about your diffrent style most emos are really cool and fun to hangout with most of all the boys are hot and alot dont cut themselfs people that do cut are just labled emo and emo just one word it doesnt mean your a fag it just means that your just diffrent but everyone is so retards who lable other people are just f*cking low lives and if you listen to mcr or bvb so what if you like them you should listen to it there really great supporters and impacted many of peoples life so dont change what you like to listen and if you wanted the definition for emo its cool happy fun people

emos

an emo is an usually an emotionally disturbed person usually teenagers as younger generations dont get the same pressure and adults can rationalize the situiation. for example i felt very lonely and it seemed i was the only one that felt that way. i just started cutting myself and i already have everything else. i already listened to gothik music and wore lots of black with black convo's. back to the subject however...

im emotionally disturbed. i will become emo. i like the emos anyway.

emo

emo-short for emotional, often expressed through sadness, a distinct style of clothing and often veganism or vegetarianism.

The popular idea that all emos are anorexic, sweater wearing, wrist cutting fags with tight pants is just another stereotype in a very stereotyped world. Is like saying that all Italians are fat chefs that make pizza, and while that is true for a small percent of people it is not the case. emo is just short for emotional, a type of music, and can mean many things and can be expressed in many ways by wearing many types of clothing and other actions.

person: Whoa! that emo kid isn't at all what I thought emos were like! I guess I am a dumb-ass after all!

emo: yeah. I guess you are.

All this crap about emo's being kids wearing black, with dyed hair, hanging about in their tight jeans is bullshit. Emo is a genre of music. You can't dress/ be emo, how can you dress/be a genre? It doesn't make sense if you think about it.

Some Guy: WOAH check out that kid wearing black...he is SOOOO emo
Other Guy: What the hell? now colours make you genres?
