near date experience

When you almost get a date with someone, but for some reason or another, it never materializes.

That guy I like kept suggesting that we go out, but we never actually did. I had a near date experience.

Deniable Date

When someone asks another person on (what they intend to be) a date but in a situation where, if things don't go how they want, they can claim it was "hanging out" and deny that it was a date (i.e. to avoid workplace awkwardness).

Me: Remember on Big Bang when Leonard set up that deniable date with Penny, saying all the guys would be at dinner then claimed they cancelled?

You: Yeah, what a skeevy creep. Man up and be forward.

Whisper Date

A project management term that pushes for a goal or milestone to be completed on a certain date but key stakeholders are not made aware of this date, the deliverables, or any logical reason why this date was chosen. A Whisper Date usually sets unrealistic expectations that results in people pulling off miracle work to save the ass of the "Whisper Dater".

"Ann are you okay?"

"Chuck presented to the management team this morning and set a 'Whisper Date' of completion for THIS Tuesday without informing the Engineering Team..."

"You know what they say, 'Let it be written... let it be done..'"

"Time to pull off some miracles!"
