Sotong

In Malaysia, the usual term for it literally means 'squid', but in the car culture scene of Malaysia, especially in East Malaysia (Sabah and Sarawak), the term sotong is used to describe an overly modified Toyota Hilux, usually their colours are in White or Black, colourful RGB headlights and turbocharged engines. The slang came from the fact that these truck's exhaust pipe spit out black smoke, mimicking how a squid would squirt out black gool.

So essentially, sotong trucks came to be because they mimicked a how a squid squirt black gool out of it's back.
