metric system

A system of measurement, used by most of the world, based off of units that make logical sense, unlike the arbitrary US system people have grown accustomed to.
1 kilometer is 1000 meters, 1 meter is 100 centimeters, 1 centimeter is 10 millimiters.
1 mile is 1760 yards, 1 yard is 3 feet, 1 foot is 12 inches.

The United States government's hopes of switching to the metric system were dashed once they realized it would cost billions of dollars.

Me: Yeah we went 135 miles per hour for about 5 minutes, the cop was gone.

operating system racist

Prejudice that one operating system is inferior to another, usually to ones favorite operating system.

Such prejudice can arise when one is accustomed to a particular platform, whether he or she be end-user, or programmer. It can also occur, when there's too much diversity in a particular family of operating system, that one attempts (at no avail) to define the core (one might call soul) of it.
It's purely operating system racist when you chant socket over STREAMS, scream poll over select, advocate Linux over BSD, and trys to trump your Unix over Windows.

assault on (your) biological system

anything that attacks your ability to engage in biological activity, including interference by technological innovations
1. The EKG was an assault on my biological system. I feel as disabled as if I had had a heart attack.

2. The huge wheel rolled down the hill and ran over the plowhand who was tilling the soil with a hoe. If you were the plowhand that would be an assault on (your) biological system.
