once in a lifetime

An experience so rare that it often happens only once in a person's entire lifetime. Basically, it can be seen as something that might happen only once in roughly 60 years or longer.
For some, a trip to Disney World is a once in a lifetime experience.

When a friend moves long distance, getting together with that friend for a dinner and a movie is very commonly a once in a lifetime experience.

Getting married is a once in a lifetime experience.

Lifetime Achievement Award

When you are invited to be in the wedding party of a childhood friend that you have not talked to in many years.
Frank: Ugh, I cant go to the game that weekend, I have a wedding in Idaho.

Colin: What? Who lives in Idaho?

Frank: Childhood friend I haven't talked to in 19 years, and I got the Lifetime Achievement Award Invite.

Colin: UGH, that's $3k in flights, hotels, tuxes, and gifts you'll never see back, AND you have to act like you are still friends, like you will be in touch in a week or something.

Frank: Preach. Like, we aren't even on any group texts together.

lifetime

When used as a slang term, "lifetime" may not necessarily mean your entire lifetime. But still, the slang term "lifetime" means a significant portion of your entire lifespan — usually no less than one-fourth of your entire lifespan.
Even though I'm already 21 years old now, my mom still limit my screen time as per Tuesday, April 2nd 2024 — as I still live with my mom whilst in college. Imagine having a lifetime of screen time limits imposed by Mom, as the life expectation of people born 2003 like me is 'only' 72 years!

Lifetime

When you’re enjoying something so much that “good time” doesn’t even come close.
Born from a legendary grammar slip by an 11-year-old who said, “I’m having a lifetime,” when asked about summer break - and honestly, she accidentally created the perfect word.
Now used when something is unexpectedly amazing, chaotic, dramatic, or absolutely unhinged… but in the best way.

Basically: Peak enjoyment. Maximum vibes. Zero regrets.
1. “Bro, that iced coffee hit so good I was having a lifetime.”

2. “Went out for one errand and somehow ended up shopping, eating, laughing, crying… basically a full lifetime.”

3. “Kids were actually quiet for 10 minutes. I was having a lifetime.”

4. “That vacation? A lifetime. I’m still recovering.”
