In text-only conversations, such as email, IM, or status updates, this word means "looks proud" or "looks smug".

It can often be intended ironically, especially when somebody has done something dubious or unhygienic but still feels the need to tell others about it.

Conversation 1 (straight usage):

HMB: Hey, I got sworn in at the high court this week as a lawyer! Woo hoo!
DTM: Oh wow! Respect! I'd imagine you're over the moon about this!
HMB: Yes. Yes, I am. *prouds*

Conversation 2 (ironic usage):

An insult in disguise. Someone who is ignorant or unaware of the massive number of failures by the Republican Party

My Proud Republican uncle was totally unaware that 25 Republican failed states are dependent on handouts from the Democrats and have massive widespread poverty, or that Republican states have 3-6 times the homicide rate of their Democratic counterparts. He thinks they are self sufficient and well behaved! Can you believe it?

Noun: Term used to describe an individual who considers themselves a doctor although never attended medical school. It can also be used to describe anybody who is such a tool they call themselves a doctor in their online persona.

That chiropractor is such a proud doctor, he acts like he saves lives by giving back rubs.

(Noun): A father who cannot accept the fact his kid sucks at sports and will complain about playing time to coaches, managers, law enforcement, congress, the president, etc.. If the father still acts this way when his child is in college then he becomes a proud grandfather.

Why they hell did Jimbo write the letter to the school board about his son warming the bench the entire game, doesn't the proud father know the last time coach played Jimbo Jr., he score a basket for the other team.
