This is often not understood and can be refereed to as 'someone who moans a lot about everything that is wrong with them.' it can also be assumed that it is someone who is always ill. A Hypochondriac is actually someone with a phobia of being ill. They are often terrified that they or a loved one will develop and thus die from a serious condition. It can be dealt with using Cognitive Behavior Therapy etc. Many people with the condition recover fully if they receive appropriate counseling. If you think you know someone who is a hypochondriac deal with the situation sympathetically, it can be just as bad as a fear of drowning. Try to encourage the person to seek help from a therapist to help them deal with their fears.
