A post on a forum or image board used to deliberately provoke conflict among other posters. Coincides with troll, trolling, or shitposting. The gif below typifies the reaction of a successful shitposter.

A bait post is an obvious "troll" post made by someone to piss off or "trigger" people who are stupid enough to take it seriously and laugh at their reactions.
