Modern American Neo-Fascism.
As with other right-wing
authoritarianism, Trumpism is characterized by the following:
1) Demagoguery
2) Jingoism, nationalism and chauvinism
3) Bigotry, including: racism, xenophobia, homophobia, religious persecution and sexism
4) Fetishising the military
5) Branding any and all left-wing ideologies as enemies of America: e.g. socialism, communism, liberalism, progressivism
6) Branding anyone who opposes the regime as unAmerican, unpatriotic, an enemy of the state, or an enemy of the people
7) Undermining the free press, quashing criticisms of the regime, and limiting critical free speech
8) Use of propaganda, political rhetoric, and other lies to mislead and misinform the populace
9) Undermining the Rule of Law, especially the consolidation of power by the executive, for example, through a declaration of a
national emergency (see Reichstag Fire) and through tests of loyalty
10) Nepotism, especially the appointment of sons and daughters to positions of power
11) Cronyism, including the appointment of loyal lackeys to
important government positions
12) Corruption, including making political decisions for the benefit of the leader and the leader's loyal friends and family
13) Being influenced and controlled by foreign entities to the detriment of national interests,
national security and democratic institutions
