Engineering Gene

The gene passed down from one person to another, resulting in a future engineer. Tell-tale signs in such a person include an inexplicable love for creating problems to solve (technical or mechanical) when there's absolutely no need to, the constant need to find solutions for everyday issues that no one else gives a crap about, know-it-all syndrome, and the inability to admit they're wrong. Are usually social inept to some degree.

On a side note, this is also why engineering jobs have hierarchies (like worker, head engineer of division 2, chief engineer of all divisions, etc.) If they didn't have an orderly and number-oriented way to say "the bill stops here" they'ed never get anything done.
Normal person: I'm bored, I'd go on the computer but the internet's so fricking slow today...
Person with engineering gene: I'm bored. I think I'll take apart the computer. Oh, look, the internet's not working. I think I'll spend the whole afternoon solving that problem
instead.

Genetic Engineering

Highly advanced scientific process which involves recombining the DNA of certain organisms to reproduce new hybrid organisms for the benefit of man kind.

Although such technology has many promising applications, many of which are already in use today: Genetically modified crops. There are also many downsides: What is the value of life if it can simply be replaced?

Forsaken by religious fanatics, staunch conservatives, tree huggers as well as many well informed intelligent people. A very controversial topic.

May lead to cloning of humans and ultimately the defacing of personal identity and nature as we know it. Human ethics will come into play and are already being tested over such topics.
"I was going to die of brain cancer but thanks to genetic engineering they simply grew human cortex in a pig and now I have a pig brain instead of a human brain!"

"World hunger was ended thanks to genetically modified crops!"

Genetic Engineering

Often misunderstood as a bad thing because of bad coverage in the press, it is in fact very useful. To engineer something you need to map an organism's DNA and then discover which genes have which effect. Then map another organism's DNA and implant those genes where you want the desired effect. It can be performed while a creature or plant is in it's embrionic stage, if done after there would be far too many DNA strands to alter. It could be used to create plants that would grow all year round in any county such as deserts without rain or even in antarctica and if there is water there, thoretically Mars.
"Genetic Engineering is a bad thing. I don't know what I'm talking about. I am an idiot."

Hate Draft

1. Select a player (real or fantasy) during a sports draft to spite or anger one or more of your opponents because they had intended to select him/her.

2. Select a player (real or fantasy) during a sport draft to put one or more of your opponents at a strategic disadvantage.
1. Billy hate drafted Chad OchoCinco because he knew Sam had wanted him since he is from Cincinnati. Billy already had plenty of players to fill that position but wanted to make sure Sam didn't get him.

2. Billy hate drafted Peyton Manning because he was the only good quarterback left and he knew Sam had been planning on drafting him.

Utility beer

Utility beer is the beer you keep around for the day-to-day moments when beer is a necessity to assist in pedestrian activities (golf, plumbing, yardwork, babysitting, staff meetings, Zoom calls). For the beer snob it is the beer you save for neighbors when they drop in at 3 p.m. on a Tuesday. It is differentiated from the actual high-end beer you save for special events, holidays, and special tastings.
Person 1: Dave, did you bring along those hazy craft IPA's so we could drink while cleaning Lyle's pool?
Person 2: Nope. I just have a bunch of utility beer that Steve dumped on me. Good enough for this. It is only 10:30 a.m.
