A Quote Unquote Proof of Concept

A one off proof of concept to test a theory or gather data that organically evolves into a nightmare of poor structure, unmaintainable code, and general technical debt. The evolution into this nightmare form is typically driven by business will to 'Get it into prod' , ever changing customer requirements, and assumption that we're completely invalid from the start of the project.

Manager: Hey the VP of Sales wants that PoC to go into production. How

Dev: It's not even close to being a viable production ready system.
Manager: Yeah you know how A Quote Unquote Proof of Concept goes. So how long before you can put it out there for people to use?

Fast Follower Syndrome

A knee jerk reaction to requirements or features requested by a customer which have not been designed nor any realistic time line been set for their implementation, other than expressing the sentiment that said features are "Fast Followers". This syndrome is characterized by the upending of any manageable process that establishes a specification of, a time line for, and allocation resources for implementation.

Dev1: "Hey, did you guys here what the product manager just promised the customer? We're not even done with the original features."
Dev2: "Yeah, and we have no way of knowing of when we're going to do that because there's not even any specifications."
Dev1:"I wish product would attempt to avoid Fast Follower Syndrome."
Dev2:"Yeah we're definitely going to be working over Christmas again."

Horseshitly

An adjective describing the condition where a particular system or device is designed in such a way that is manifests feelings of betrayal or disbelief in it's user, so much so that it feels like it was constructed to illicit said feelings in a purposeful manner.

Upon observing the documentation of the insurances companies API Jennifer gasped in disbelief, her inner monologue shouting "This API is designed in the most horseshitly manner I have ever seen, how in the hell do people integrate with these clowns!!???".

A Russian made coffin with wheels typically found in Ukraine in a state of uncontrolled conflagration or similarly destroyed state.

Yuri looked on in horror as the heavy machine gun rounds pierced the hull of his BTR. No matter how hard he pushed the pedal down more and more daylight leaked into the vehicle piercing the armor as well as his fragile psyche. Tears streamed down his face, he realized he was no longer in an armored vehicle, but instead a Blyatmobile.

Shit Proxy

An interface, implemented by software or business process, built on a source of unmanaged and incoherent data, and acts as poorly or poorer in its behavior than if the original data source was interacted with directly.

Developer 1: This API works in the most unbelieve illogical manner.
Developer 2: What do you mean?
Developer 1: When I used the original data source it was at least possible to find the exact thing I wanted and now because this shit proxy written by morons is in the way...I can't get it to do anything because they've changed all the search parameters. It's a fucking unique ID just return the fucking data with the Id specified.
