The "friendzone" is the position of a person who removed from eligibility for romantic or sexual consideration due to an existing friendship with the object of their desire.

The term applies to a range of situations: On the innocent end of the spectrum, awkwardness, timing, or fear of losing the friendship may keep a person in the friendzone.

There those who step forwards to confess, to be rejected and told remaining friends is more desirable. They must either enter the friendzone, or end all contact. Or, the focus of the desire may be aware of the romantic interest, and purposefully ignore, discourage, and downplay it to prevent the friendship from changing.

At the pernicious end, either person in the dynamic may use the friendzone to take advantage. A person with sexual interest may try to use the friendzone to gain intimate access under the guise of false friendship. Or the recipient of affection may purposefully encourage the feelings in order to get benefits, like attention, favors, or money (aka "simping")

It is challenging to shift a person's view from platonic to romantic, so becoming "trapped in the friendzone" is seen as a difficult fate to change and few successfully "escape the friendzone" to enter a relationship.

The term can be parodied in other situations where a person is rendered romantically inviable due to the type of existing relationship, such as "brother/sister-zoned" (i.e. the object of the feelings views the other person like a sibling)
A: "Did you hear? Tom finally escaped the friendzone and now he and Claire are dating!"
B: Took him long enough! They may have been friends since middle school, but he's been pining after her for the last five years!"

The White Lotus, also called the White Lotus Bitch, is a stock female character type commonly found in Chinese internet novels.

The term refers to a female character who appears innocent, naïve, impossibly perfect, and pure on the surface, but uses this reputation to back stab, blame, or sling mud on others. The term was inspired by the lotus plant, which has a beautiful flower floating on top of water, hiding the plant's messy roots stuck in marshy mud.

Common traits include:
Jealousy or greed as primary motivations for the behavior
Crying to manipulate others
Relying on powerful men

Pretending to be wronged or scared of someone
Using apologies to appear bullied
Wears white
Pretending to be saintly or perfect
Uses lying and their innocent reputations as their main weapons
Volatile temper which eventually gives themselves away
Generally an antagonist, love rival, or stepmother
Written as dislikable to the reader

Related to the Green Tea Bitch, which is a similar character who appears kind, but is actually scheming. Level of intelligence and likability tend to be the difference, with the White Lotus losing out on both. Example: A Green Tea Bitch would leave an expensive necklace out to tempt a maid into stealing it, so she could black mail her, while a White Lotus would simply lie that it was stolen and cry to get a maid punished. White Lotus characters tend to be dislikable, and as such are often villains of the story.
That White Lotus cried to the crown prince that the woman tripped her on purpose, but it must have been because of something she did. Enraged, the crown prince sent the woman to the cold palace, and the White Lotus rejoiced.

An ability to flip arguments and intelligently talk their way out of accusations or repercussions
Usually the main character
Often has special or secret knowledge (such as in an isekai or rebirth novel), or else has a very high EQ allowing her to read people.
Common for 'villainess-turned-good' characters
If she has/had a job, it is most commonly as an actress

Usually written to be likable to readers

Related to the White Lotus Flower/White Lotus Bitch, which is a similar female character type, in that an innocent face is presented to the world while hiding bad intentions. The distinguishing trait between the two tends to be the level of intelligent calculation, with Green Tea Bitches seen as the more smart and scheming of the two.
Feilu knew the answer to the puzzle, but pretended not to know, asking guiding questions until Nianxi thought she solved it herself. Delighted with her smart and helpful little sister, Nianxi decided to ask the Emperor to allow Feilu to attend the royal academy. "That's our green tea bitch!"-a reader in the comments.

AKA a "flower vase"
A Chinese slang term which often appears in web novels and dramas. An "empty vase" or a "flower vase" is a beautiful person (of either gender) who has no other substance, purpose, or intelligence outside of their appearance (i.e. they have a beautiful outer appearance, but are hollow and empty inside).

Like a vase, they may be chosen to decorate a person's home or life, but can be largely neglected or overlooked, so the term is usually applied to low-maintenance people.

The term is considered a negative insult, and is somewhat similar to the Western concept of a "skin-deep" beauty or a "trophy wife".
"He couldn't believe the ignorance coming out of the beautiful girl's mouth and wrote her off as an empty vase."
"She had been hurt by her past relationship, so this time she decided to choose an empty vase and try her hand at being a sugar momma to a handsome, shallow, boytoy."
