People didn't think Mr. Clean was the brightest light in the hall. He was stating the obvious by bringing up people's suspicions about the cheater, which wasn't going to be a popular move, right or wrong. It was something nobody wanted done.

Toledo panic button
The one that if someone presses it right, and the partner doesn't die, they never have to come up with a Fort Wayne Panic Button or a Flint Panic Button. If you tried to do it with someone you didn't trust though, at least one person could die.
These two guys doing the Toledo Panic Button didn't seem too trustworthy, so the new guy declined when they asked him if he wanted to do it, even if they thought he was a bitch for it.

A word that some of us have said much longer than the past year, and won't stop when it becomes more popular to say yes. You either stand for something or you continue to fall for everything and everyone.
The dork girl thought him saying the word no was just a fashionable trend or a phase for him, based on events like the coronavirus and restrictions, because she didn't take no as a legitimate answer, and had him confused with a yes man.

Guard
It was never going to be her shack and it was never going to be her guard, because there was no such thing as her going back in time and being originally from the city she was trying to claim as her own. She didn't even hold her own town sacred, but her town was her business. Nobody from the other town was changing the guard to her, giving her the key to anything, or letting her take theirs, as some people did hold their town sacred.

Coronavirus
A surface matter for the power struggle beneath the surface between the people trying to keep pulling the strings of the rest of the population that get their strings pulled right into a testing line or a vaccine line (or a slaughterhouse line for that matter, since a slaughterhouse is where sheep go).
The coronavirus was something that would get people's attention and distract them from continuing to fight what they were really fighting.
