To become or cause somebody to become painfully self-conscious, ill at ease, ashamed, or humiliated. Any situation which may result in such feelings. Or alternatively to make somebody or something appear untrustworthy or wrong.

Used to describe someone who is extremely manipulative, controlling, and self-satisfied, unaware their actions or behavior will eventually result in their own misfortune or downfall.

Dimesworth

A very small, but usually reasonable, quantity of something. Used metaphorically it should not be compared to the actual worth of a dime.
Old Joe got by on a dimesworthy of tobacco per week. Of course, a dimesworth was nothing like the money he remembered as a lad.

Dollop of Dread

Think ‘stage fright’. A dollop of dread is anything that makes you feel an acceptable, or sometimes expected, sensation of anxiety or tension, but usually not enough to persuade you away from whatever caused it.
I had a real dollop of dread before that last test we had to take, but I think I did alright.

Someone who is either always travelling to tropical locations, has a strong taste for anything exotic, or possesses a happy carefree personality – similar to someone who is about to go on holiday.

May refer to an item for sale that isn't worth selling, or to describe someone who is particularly tight-fisted when it comes to money.
