bashbaiter

Someone who submits quotes to www.bash.org that never actually took place. These logs usually contain the bashbaiter's name as the author. Some popular topics for bashbaiting are quotes from comedians that have been turned into typical IRC sentences, funny scenarios the author invented, and modified conversations to be much funnier.

They do this to get their name out as a funny person and to get the most votes.

monsterpiece

The opposite of masterpiece, something totally worthless in the artistic sense.

David: Look at what my kid drew in kindergarten today!
John: What a monsterpiece.
David: What?
John: Masterpiece. It's a total work of art.
David: Oh, thanks. I'll tell him!

four letter word

Phrase that refers to any number of "bad" words, often seen in forum posts. Can mean shit, fuck, damn, and even other non-four-lettered-words such as ass and bitch. Can also refer to the basic four letter words with suffixes (ie "ed" "ing"). Usually said by some religious freak or ten year old that will get in trouble if their parents see it.

To start something. Derived from the method of starting an old-timey car that literally had to be "cranked up" before it could be run.

Sherman Tank

The epitome of down-to-earth, rugged, and masculine design. If something is "built like a Sherman" then it pays infinitely more attention to functionality and die-hard components than something as useless as aesthetic design or nifty features.

I just got this safe. It's built like a goddamn Sherman tank! All it has is a dial, a handle, and one tough-ass casing, no air-cooled inner pockets or any of that bull.

keep this bumped

Used in message boards to denote a topic that should be kept on the first page through a process known as bumping. Translates to "Great topic, this should be read by everyone." If a thread is worthy enough and succeeds in generating a large pool of bumpers, a moderator will usually come in and sticky the topic.
