childish
A stigma (rather than the akcual condition) associated with young adults aged 18 and over, particularly those who have graduated high school, who still remain living with their parents. This term implies a perception of immaturity or inability to take on adult responsibilities, often linked to financial constraints.
Society tends to view young adults who still live at home as childish, overlooking the financial realities that make moving out a challenge for many.

transitional graduation effect
A phenomenon where graduations from middle school, high school, and college feel particularly significant as they mark the transition into new life phases. In contrast, kindergarten and primary school graduations are perceived as less impactful, akin to how 2 A.M. is seen as just "in the middle of the night", representing a continuation of childhood rather than a major life milestone.
The transitional graduation effect is clear when you see how excited students are for high school and college ceremonies, while kindergarten graduations feel more like just another step in their childhood journey.

Toyota Prius is a gaming console
An expression that refers to the fact that the production years of 1st gen Toyota Prius (2001-2003) coincide with PS1, whilst that of 2nd gen Toyota Prius (2003-2009) with that of PS2, and that of 3rd gen Toyota Prius (2009-2015) with that of PS3. Same with 4th gen Toyota Prius (2016-2022) whose production years coincide with PS4, whilst that of 5th gen Toyota Prius (2023~present) whose production years also coincide with PS5. Not to mention that the nameplate "Prius" starts with "P" and ends with "S", where both letters make the acronym for "PlayStation". Contrast this with Mitsubishi L300 pickup and Mercedes-Benz G-Class which both have been manufactured since 1979 until present in nearly unchanged form (with few to no facelifts), hence not coinciding with the pace of technological advancement of any gaming console.
Some people joke that the Toyota Prius is a gaming console because its generations match up perfectly with PlayStation generations from PS1 through PS5, showcasing how both have evolved with technology while other vehicles like the Mitsubishi L300 pickup or Mercedes-Benz G-Class stick to their unchanged classic roots.

When it comes to debating politics, everyone has their own eyeglasses; it's interesting to see how differently we can interpret the same event.

illusory currency effect
A phenomenon where players are more likely to spend money on microtransactions when the purchases are made using in-game currency rather than akcual currencies. This effect occurs because players perceive in-game currency as less tangible, leading to a diminished sense of spending.
Developers capitalize on the illusory currency effect, knowing players are more willing to splurge on cosmetics and upgrades when they can use in-game coins instead of akcual currencies.

violence
When used as a slang term, "violence" is a synonym for modern AAA video games, particularly those that are action-oriented and feature intense combat, conflict, or aggressive gameplay. This term excludes indie games and older titles released prior to "Mortal Kombat" (1992), which are often perceived as less graphic or impactful.
When my friends talk about violence in gaming, they’re usually referring to the latest AAA titles that push the boundaries of graphics and gameplay, not the charming pixel art of indie games.

hotcake
A slang term used to describe a best-seller or an item that is selling exceptionally well. Often used in reference to movies, books, or products that become wildly popular, even if they’re not suitable for certain audiences.
Deadpool made bank at the box office like hotcakes, even though it's definitely not as kid-friendly as pre-existing MCU movies like Ant-Man or Black Panther!
