A really good subway car with front and rear facing seats on them and they have some wood scents inside making feel luxury in a way. Sadly it is getting replaced by the R211 in 2025

The Budd RDC Acronym for: Rail Diesel Car. Is A self-propelled diesel rail multiple unit (DMU), often called "Budd car" or "Buddliner," that was built by the Budd Company from 1949 to 1962. Primarily used for passenger service in rural areas or short-haul commuter routes, the Budd RDC was more cost-effective than traditional trains that required separate locomotives and coaches. The units could operate alone or be coupled together in sets, with the ability to control the entire train from the front car. Known for its commercial success in North America, the RDC was one of the earliest examples of modern diesel multiple unit (DMU) trains, a design now widely used worldwide.
"I caught a ride on VIA Rail's northern routes last year, and it was amazing to see one of their classic Budd RDCs still in action. These self-propelled cars are perfect for the less-traveled, rural lines—fast, efficient, and nostalgic for anyone who remembers when they were first introduced."

One day at the Perseverance Landfill in Grenada, navigating my way home in my red Chrysler town and country minivan. Right in front of me was a minibus full of passengers and an elderly lady in a yellow subcompact car. The old lady was driving slowly through the landfill. As the bus honked continuously, I noticed on my rearview mirrors, a white 2015 Honda fit swerving all over the road behind me. The driver, a guy in his late 20’s named Jeremy was glued to his phone, watching some nasty gay porn with the sounds playing from the car’s speakers via Bluetooth, playing explicit moans, dirty talking and etc. I could see the bright orange and black Pornhub logo reflected onto his glasses as he was getting closer behind me. I realized that he was driving like an ass, so I tried to move away from him. But as I tried to take over the old lady in her slow moving car, the tragedy begins, the Honda clipped my rear bumper, sending violent vibrations through my minivan. Then he collided behind the old lady, her car spinning violently off the road . Then Jeremy then collided into the bus, and after he collided into the bus. He Carreened off the road with the pornographic noises playing loudly on his car speakers and then hit a guardrail and plunged into the lagoon of the Halifax harbor near by the abandoned lizie j cargo ship.

The ex-metroliner cab car is a NPCU (non-powered control unit) cab car made from the Budd Metroliner Electric multiple unit, when Amtrak inherited the metroliners from penn central when it started in May 1st 1971, during their run they were proven to be mechanically very unreliable, Since The trainsets were, except for the propulsion systems, a near-identical match to the Amfleet coaches were converted (29 of them) into NPCU cab cars. While the rest either converted into geometry cars, work trains, DOT Trains or scrapped. The fleet numbers for them are 9630–9652, 9709, 9822, 9825–9828. And primary used on the keystone, valley flyer and Hartford lines. They along with the amfleet coaches will be replaced by Siemens venture/airo trainsets in the early 2030s
One day on the Amtrak Keystone train to New York, I realized this would be one of the last times I’d experience the Metroliner cab car before the Siemens Venture trainsets took over. A group of girls boarded a few rows behind me, their laughter cutting through the train’s hum. One girl stood out: a VSCO girl with an oversized scrunchie, high-waisted shorts, and of course, her bright Pink hydroflask
As she fumbled with her drink, the sounds of “sksksks” filled the air, followed by an exaggerated “and I oop!” I glanced back, and saw her filming a TikTok while her friends dropped their flasks. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any more chaotic, she caught my eye and shot me a bright smile. “Do you want to be in it?” she called, her voice bursting with energy.
“Sure, why not?” I replied, feeling my annoyance fade. Maybe this was the future of train travel: a mix of the old and the new, blending memories with modern trends.
As I joined their TikTok, we struck silly poses, and I found myself laughing at the absurdity of it all. For a moment, we were just kids having fun on a train, capturing a fleeting memory. Despite their vibrant energy being so different from my past train rides, I realized that change could be okay. I might miss the Metroliner cab car, but this unexpected adventure would stick with me long after the trains had changed.

The Pennsylvania Railroad GG1 is an electric locomotive that was designed for high-speed passenger and freight service. Built between 1934 and 1943, it features a distinctive streamlined design with a long, slender body and a unique, iconic shape. The GG1 was known for its powerful performance, capable of reaching speeds up to 100 mph, and its ability to operate under varying voltage systems. It played a crucial role in improving rail transportation on the Northeast Corridor and remains an important symbol of American rail history. Operated by a couple of companies like: obviously the Pennsylvania railroad (PRR), Penn Central, Conrail, Amtrak and New Jersey Transit. It first run on January 28, 1935 and final run on October 29, 1983.
I had always dreamed of experiencing the golden age of railroads, particularly the mighty PRR GG1. After months of tinkering, I finally built my time machine—a mix of old tech and futuristic design. With a deep breath, I activated it and whoosh—I was transported to the 1940s.
Stepping out, I was greeted by the sight of a gleaming GG1 at the station, its massive steel form reflecting the afternoon sun. An old conductor, looking unfazed by my arrival, invited me aboard. Inside, the train was a masterpiece of wood paneling and brass fittings.
As the GG1 powered up, the train surged forward, its electric engines humming smoothly along the tracks. The landscape blurred past as I marveled at the raw power of the locomotive beneath me. The ride felt surreal, like I was floating through history. The wind, the sound, the sense of being part of something grand—it was everything I had imagined and more.
For a brief moment, I wasn't just a time traveler. I was a passenger in the past, riding the rails with the legends of the age.
