From the song, "Space Lord" by Monster Magnet. Used to refer to putting makeup and expensive clothing on someone that is otherwise disgusting/unattractive.

The best of the best. Usually refers to where wine or liquor are kept in a specialty liquor store. The best stuff is kept at the top for display until someone needs it.

Anything (usually software, but can be anything) that is promoted and marketed without ever actually being produced.
