"What do you mean?"
1. A way of buying at least 30 seconds of time to think of a rebuttle to an unfavorable accusation.
2. A way of an accuser to buy 60 more seconds of time to rebuttle the accusee's rebuttle.

1. Ed: "Did you eat my cow tongue patty while i was asleep?"
Owen: "whaddayamean?"
2. Ed: "Did you eat my cow tongue patty while i was asleep?"
