Some-one who acts like and wishes they are of a certain clique, but in truth arent, often they fill the more complex criteria of the clique, but miss the defining quality. Their character often seems forced.
A wannabe pimp will dress himself in flashy clothes, jewlery etc, will act cocky and de-meaning of females, like they own them...but in truth have never had a girlfriend, never been close to getting anywhere with a girl and probably never will.
A wannabe gansta will listen to 50 cent all day, dress in a rebelious hip-hop fashion and talk like their 'dope'. However they would probably cry to their mommies if they ever saw a gun and would be too scared to touch any form of drug or illegal good.

The worst form of wannabe. it wants to be everything, will copy everyone's style, will even copy other wannabes but wont get it right, will like rock and rap, burberry and skulls, talk like a chav, but talk about death.

Poser, follower, a charlatan of sorts. One who copies or immitates all or most of the aspects dealing with their idol. They may wish to have certain clothing, skills, vocabulary, etc., of their idols instead of their own. Most likely a wannabe is lacking in self confidence and is looking for guidance.

Someone classed as a wannabe is generally considered a bad person simply because they want to be something that they aren't yet. Something most people cannot seem to understand is that everyone is a wannabe at some point in their life. You make fun of that "barbie wannabe" over there thinks she has to have big boobs or be really skinny to be around the type of people she likes, she will learn to make it her own as time goes on. You make fun of that girl covered in makeup and stuck in class faking a hangover because she thinks it will make her popular, she will learn either by friends, family, or time that it only makes her look... significantly unintelligent. I'm sure at one point in your life you've tried hard to be someone or something when you weren't quite there yet, right?

Skater wannabes dress like skaters and buy skateboards even though when they try to skate they end up falling on their arse after about 3 seconds.
