University City

The part of Charlotte, NC surrounding UNC Charlotte. Think smoke shops, overpriced ramen, McDonalds frequented by single moms & crackheads, goodass Indian food, HALAL CART LET'S GOOOO, fucktons of pavement, nepo baby boys with loud-ass cars, and traffic slower than the university's student portal site.
"Hey, what should we do for food 2nite?"
"We could eat at Five Guys in University City"
"Fuck that, the burgers cost $12 and there was a screaming baby that puked on the floor last time I was there"
"But they have free peanuts!"

The University City Loop

The University City Loop, also known known as the U-City Loop, the Delmar Loop, or simply The Loop, to St. Louis residents is a restaurant and entertainment district in University City, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. It is home to many of the areas most well known restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues.

The Pageant is located on the Loop and is one of the areas best small-mid size venues. The Tivoli theater, also a Loop mainstay, is a three screen movie theater which primilarly shows independent films, documentaries, and other films considered more "artsy."

Restaurants include Blueberry Hill, Fitz's Soda Co., Cicero's Italian dining, and many others. It is also known for its eclectic array of shops including Vintage Vinyl music store, and the newest location of Sunshine Daydream, a very popular, high-end head shop and clothing store.

Also located on the loop is the Riverfront Times, a local publication that highlights many areas of city life including entertainment, food, sports, etc.

Geographically the Loop starts where St. Louis and University City meet on Delmar Blvd and it extends West to the U-City Lions, two sculptures, one of a male lion and one of a male tiger which sit directly West of University City City Hall.

Current renovations of this area include over two miles of trolley track and two trolley cars, able to ferry people up and down Delmar bringing back the original feel of the Loop with the use of trolleys on a "loop" of track.
Let's go down to the University City Loop tonight and eat dinner at Blueberry Hill.

Hate Sink

A person you hate intensely not because they deserve such hatred but because they serve as a focus for your general hatred. A healthy way to dispense with excess animosity.
Jake's not really that big an asshole. He just serves as my hate sink.

A toe rag was originally a foot wrapping used, since mediaeval times up until the mid-nineteenth century, to protect the foot from chafing by boots or shoes. As these were, quite literally, rags they weren’t usually washed, and so with use they became very smelly until they were thrown away. Because of the similarity in smell, toe rag also became the name applied to dried, salted cod or other things with a strong, unpleasant, fishy smell. It didn’t take that long before the name was applied to someone who was an obnoxious, unpleasant OIC.
1 “Socks! Those aren’t socks you smelly git, they’re toe rags!”
2 “What have you been cooking? Smells like toe rag!”
3 “I can smell ‘er fanny from ‘ere, proper toe rag.”
4 That Heale Malcolm is a right toe rag.

Eternity leave

When some resigns or retires from a job, they are on "eternity leave". This can also refer to someone who has passed away, especially someone who worked somewhere for a long time, retired/resigned, then passed away later.
Oh I'm sorry, you didn't know that Kelly is on eternity leave? She resigned and moved to Hawaii!

With regrets I would like to inform you that my boss is officially on eternity leave. I will never see or hear them again. Ever.
